To do lists

Luke 10:38–42



There are many things to do today,
many things to do,

but help us to take care today,
help us to take care

not to add to the list today
checking the lists of others –

for on our lists, on our own lists,
are plenty of things to do;

so help us to take care today,
help us to take care,

to do what is ours to do,
only what is ours.


there are many things to do today,
many things to do:

help us to find joy today,
in all that we must do.

help us greet with joy each one,
and meet challenges with confidence,

trust that you are with us today,
as you have been and always will.


there are many things to do today,
many things to do.

help us to be still today,
to rest, to breathe, to pray;

help us listen for your voice,
to sit in your Sacred presence,

for in all the things we do today,
we seek to serve your way of love.


there are many things to do today,
and we cannot do them alone;

help us to take care today,
of each other and ourselves.

in all the things we do today,
and all the things we don’t,

may we be forgiving today,
may we carry your light and hope.

there is really only one things to do,
today and tomorrow and ever:

there is much love to give today,
your love, which overflows.
